if you don't know, now you know- Jock on Detective Comics
8:57 AM
No secret on our major Jock-age on the maddening, visceral art steez of Jock and hyped to learn via DC Source that he will be returning as regular artist to Detective Comics with another Vertigo-alum, Scott Snyder (American Vampire). I took a "break" on the book since Rucka, JHWIII and Jock finished their thang on Batwoman, but with this ill news-- looks like I among many of you will be batarang'n myself back in November.

SDCC 2010, Ch. 9 - Enter Jock and Voltron hearts Blair Butler
10:36 PM
As if my days down at the Con could not get any better. On the next to last day of SDCC, I was lucky enough to meet Mark Simpson aka Jock at the DC booth. I was roaming around DC and noticed that the British comic book artist of The Losers & Lenny Zero fame, was signing/sketching until 4 o'clock. I look at my watch and noticed that the big hand was pointing at 12 o'clock & the short hand was at 4. HOT DINGLEBERRIES ON A PLATTER BATWOMAN!!!
So I make like the Tasmanian Devil, scurry around the booth and I find him. Kudos to the DC worker for letting me be the last fan after the cut-off time. What was even more cooler was Jock himself taking the time to talk with me and draw me a sketch. It was a sincere joy to meet with him as he was a very gracious person and seemed genuinely happy to be at SDCC. Some tidbits of what we talked about: a) he enjoyed the movie version The Losers b) he's currently working on a creator-owned 6-issue mini-series, re-teaming with none other than The Losers writer, Andy Diggle. The tentative title of the series is Switchback and they are currently shopping around for a publisher. Thank you much Mr. Jock for taking the time out of your busy day. Here is the uber*cool sketch he drew.

One of the randomly funny moments walking around the San Diego exhibition hall was catching Voltron getting friendly with geek-girl cutie, Blair Butler of Attack of the Show! & Fresh Ink. Check out the intimate moments they share, reminiscent of a geeky Joannie loves Cha-Chi or a newfound nerdy-power couple version of Branjelina. You heard it here first!!!

New Trailer from The Losers!
11:56 AM
Master illustrator, Jock (Detective Comics, Losers) just tweeted exclusive new footage from The Losers flick set to hit us this Spring. How fab is it to have full-on support from the original creators to rep the authenticity of this adaptation (say, in comparison to all Alan Moore inspired films-- not hating, just saying).
The hilarious scene of Jensen's (Chris Evans- Fantastic Four, Push)standoff is captured as I imagined it. From the looks of things-- I expect only brilliance from this cinematic monster's big screen translation.

Dime Pieces
10:55 PM
Dime Pieces will feature comic book artist's pieces/sketches they are currently working on or just doing just for fun.

This beautiful rendition of Deadpool & Moon Knight is from the team of Mike Choi (pencils) & Sonia Oback (colors). This engaged duo most recently have been the artists for the X-Force title up until the current Necrosha story-arc. With all due respect to Clayton Crain, I hope Choi & Oback jump back on the X-Men's black op's squad soon.

One of the best Bat-Books out there - check that - one of the best DC books is Detective Comics by current creators, Greg Rucka (writer) & JH Williams III (artist). While the incomparable Rucka is staying on, JHWIII stunning run is coming to an end. I was saddened for all about 3.5 seconds because taking over is Jock (The Losers, Scalped-covers). As you can see from the forthcoming double-page cover for Detective Comics #861, the quality of art will not suffer.

if you don't know, now you know- Detective Comics
9:56 AM
Thanks to Jock (The Losers, Green Arrow) via Twitpic for this fresh, stupid-fly ink finish of Batman. This may be speculation, but from the upper-left hand corner it looks like this may very well be a panel for his upcoming run on Detective Comics with the mad-genius of Greg Rucka.

Life Imitates Art- The Losers
4:58 PM
Zoe's portrayal of Uhura in last year's blockbuster Star Trek, made men and women drool at the like's of her Dominican, Lebanese, Indian, Irish, Jamaican-mix and definitely showcased her ability to keep it sexy with a nasty edge-- which should be more than needed for her role as Aisha.
