toy collectwhore: Deathstroke

7:18 PM

Soldiering on with reviewing some older figs on the toyshelves since I have been giving love mostly to the newer releases.  Easily one of my fave of all DCU characters and articulated sculpts is Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke the Terminator.

Deathstroke

Artistic Integrity:   I referenced Joe Bennett's work from Blackest Night Teen Titans #78 and did a pretty fine job of matching the rat-a-tat-tat action shot.  The Four Horsemen of Mattel cut no corners on making sure that all of Slade's costume deets and other attributes are on-point.  From his knightly underarmor, to multiple arm/leg bands, holsters for all of his arsenal and how about those weapons?  Deathstroke comes equipped with a glock, an AK-rifle, a saber and his go-to staff.

Mattel even issued a variant with Slade unmasked!!  They got it all covered yo.  I really can't think up anything that they could have done better..hmm, okay maybe his loyal manservant Wintergreen's decapitated head on a mount.

Fun Factor:  With heavily-bolstered articulation that is only beat by those recently issued DCU Classics figs that have multi-jointed knees-- well, this is tops.  Deathstroke can pose as far as your imagination takes you and with all his paraphernalia-- or other(s), I used Vigilante's Uzi for the double-fisting gunplay above-- Slade rocks.

Whether you recreate scenes against his fave victims- the Titans or as I did-- where he took on all of the JLA in Identity Crisis and nearly took em.  Guess where Green Arrow stuck that lone arrow at?

Fo-reals brah:
Deathstroke has only been casted less than 5 times in the world of 6" DC figs and Mattel's res is as you guessed it- the best.  The wave this was released with also included- Robin, Nightwing, Solomon Grundy, Green Lantern and Sinestro-- arguably some of the most popular and best artpieces of Mattel's 17 waves to date. Deathstroke, like the Batgirl fig I recently talked on are must own toys.  Go get em!!
