Winick is Killing It

3:42 PM

I recall being at a local comics signing with James Robinson where I got to chat with Jann Jones for a bit.  After a few drinks I threw out some shit like yeah, now your man can hold it down as top scribe reppin SF huh?  You would think his future wifey would immediately agree-- but instead she said without hesitation-- what about Judd Winick?

Ah frick.  There goes my cred again.  Winick has definitely been playing in the shadows of DC as of late, well until now.  The prolific wordsmith is coming full force with the twice-a-month JLI throwback- Justice League: Generation Lost, Power Girl (which feels like Heinberg's fab Who is Wonder Woman arc), Red Hood: The Lost Days and the upcoming DC Animated film- Batman: Under the Red Hood.

Peep this just released clip that gives us a sneakpeak into one of the first standoffs between Jason Todd and Batman.

It's natural that a writer would link dialogue between books that they are working on where it makes sense-- like that of Gail Simone's Secret Six and Wonderwoman-- being that they know where things are going and the possibilities in creating deeper, broader stories.  Winick busted this in his first PG clip and appropriately drew from his Max Lord comeback in Generation Lost.

I look forward to the same kinda layered plotlines being carried over between Lost Days and Under the Red Hood. Alright so Jann was right afterall.
