I would've paid $20 for a ticket..

3:22 PM

I can't recall the last time I had been on the edge of my seat and not wanting to move at all. I could see why it took Quentin Tarantino (QT) 10 yrs. to finish the script for Inglourious Basterds. Last year, I muttered best actor after seeing There Will Be Blood. I repeated those words last Friday.

What is one way to make a movie stand out? A good bet is a solid villain. We get that in Col. Hans Landa played brilliantly by Christoph Waltz. He's simply a charismatic killer. I really liked the guy and would want to pick this character's brain if I had the imaginary chance. Don't get me wrong, I liked the Joker too but I'd be more interested in his application technique of face paint.

Anyway, was this movie violent? Yes. Great acting? You bet. Predictable? Not in your life.

"What the hell is going to happen next?" Your eyes are glued to the screen in enormous anticipation throughout the film. Many will argue if this was QT's masterpiece but so what? The fundamental experience of being captured, surprised and taken for a wild ride is truly appreciated. That is part of what this movie is about...along with a 101 ways to kill a Nazi.

I happened to catch QT last night sharing his passion with our homie Tavis Smiley. Originally aired on Monday (8/24) on PBS: http://www.pbs.org/kcet/tavissmiley/archive/200908/20090824.html#
